The simplicity of the Orchard is in keeping with the rustic nature of the Hayshed and indicates a change of atmosphere as we step away from the Borders towards the surrounding landscape.

Clockwise from top: Almond blossom viewed against the original rusty corrugated iron roof of the Hayshed; figs ripen in the autumn sun; a rare crop of olives (they do better in drought years when we can control the amount of water they receive).

The Hayshed soars on its original timber poles (we only had to replace two) although the gable ends are new.
